Running Week That Was…..

Cross Country – On a very cold Saturday lunch time, 9 enthusiastic individuals laced up their trail/spike shoes and stood on the very slanted start line in Hyndburn! For the ladies – Captain Sue Jones, Caroline McLaughlan, Sarah Wetherill, Daisy Seville and Sarah Scott. For the men – Captain Andy Fairbairn, Martin Boswell, Alex Ingham and David Barras. Mud, snow and water awaited and a change of course from last year! First lady home was Caroline, followed by Sarah W, Daisy, Sarah S and Sue! (Times will be in the next report). Unfortunately Andy and David both withdrew after starting the race, which left Martin and Alex to run hard in the snow. Martin came home first and was followed a little later by Alex! Well done Team TCRC! A hard run in not great conditions!

Cumbria Grand Day Out – Saturday also saw 8 awesome members of TCRC take part in the 10 mile trail race in Cumbria to raise funds for the Cumbria Flood Appeal. The run started and ended in Askham and included checkpoints along the scenic wintery course. Well done to John Laird, Lesley Grey, Malc Sherwood, Julie Sherwood, Christine Burgess, Steve Burgess, Kirsty Waywell and Pete Waywell. (Times to follow in the next report). At this time the event raised an amazing £20,450!

Club Championship

A full list of the Club Championships for both road and trail, are now on the Website. This year we have changed how the championship works.

Road Championship:

  • Last year – 3 short, 3 medium and 2 long races needed to be completed to qualify for the road championship and 4 races for the trail championship
  • This year – A total of 8 races from the list of published road races needs to be completed. The choice of race distance is totally up to the individual, with only a requirement to complete 8 races!  There are free races on the club championship – Park Run, Club Handicap and the Interclub Series!

Trail Championship:

  • The trail championship has not changed! 4 races and you qualify!

The points system will work in the same way! Each participating individual will be awarded points against the position that they finish.

Please can you let Roy and myself know if you have taken part in any club race, as we have a few members that are also part of Fylde Coast Running and we would only filter on TCRC results. Don’t forget that if you are England Athletics registered you run as an affiliated member.

Each month there will be an update of the championship in the weekly report!
